What's Going On In Putnam County

September 19, 2005 --  We're finally making a comeback.  Very soon you will see more and more resources geared towards the independent filmmakers.  Our Message Board is up and running so please take advantage of it.  It's a great way to network.  A new addition to the site is the Articles & Reviews for Independent Filmmakers page.  Like I said, this is just the beginning.  If you have a product you want reviewed or a web site link you can suggest , please email me at glen@midhudsonfilm.com.  Finally, don't forget to join us on October 1st and 2nd for the 5th Annual Putnam County International Film & Video Festival!

June 24, 2004 --  I'm sorry that we have not had a meeting or an update of any kind for such a long time.  I have been very busy doing independent movies.  I guess I shouldn't complain since I'm out there doing something.  I'm looking to hopefully pull the group out of hiatus come Fall when things calm down.  Maryann has been incredibly busy as well and Putnam Valley Arts pulls us away in our spare time too.  The number of events that they put on has increased.  At the very least, we'll see you all at this year's Putnam County Film and Video festival in November! - Glen

September 16, 2003 --  Don't miss the October 9th meeting.  We will be holding a live casting session for Light & Dark Productions next thriller entitled Fairview Falls.  For more information please visit www.lightanddark.net.

May 13, 2003 --  Spring time has arrived and so has the revival of the Mid-Hudson Film & Artists Group.  With the warm months ahead it's a great time to stop by at future meetings and network.  I'm happy to say that we have such a growing diverse group of really talented individuals.  We have artists, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, writers - the list goes on and on.  With such diversity you might ask what one would have in common with the other.  The answer is plenty.  We all share a passion for our work as artists.  That is is the common bond between us.  Film and video is made up of all of these elements.  And the great part is that with such diversity you can broaden your perspective of your own work by exchanging and discussing your ideas.  Don't let the summer months pass you by.  Give us a try.  And, don't forget that the deadline for this year's Putnam County Film & Video Festival is July 31, 2003 so get your entries in before it's too late.

December 19, 2002 --  The Mid-Hudson Film & Artists Group will be on hiatus for the winter.  Our next meeting will be from 8 to 10 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the VFW.  Recently, I have been appointed as web master for Putnam Valley Arts Council site.  A winners list for the Putnam County Film and Video Festival will be forthcoming. will begin work on it after the new year.  Thank you all for your support and may you have a wonderful holiday and a safe and happy new year!

October 25, 2002 --  This years Putnam County Film and Video Festival was a great success and more fun than ever.  There were lots of new faces and very talented people.  A list of the award winners will be forthcoming.  The Mid-Hudson Film and Artists Group celebrated its one year anniversary at the festival by awarding the VFW a plaque for their contribution to the arts.

September 30, 2002 --  On October 5th and 6th, the second annual Putnam County Film and Video Festival will take place in Putnam Valley at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center.  There has been an excellent number of submissions to the festival this year that you won't want to miss.  Please see the Putnam Film Festival section for details.  A festival schedule is posted in this section as well.

July 12, 2002 -- This past meeting was the first time that we screened clips and trailers from various projects that some of the group members have been working on.  We used a video projector courtesy of the Putnam Valley Library System.  We encourage people to bring their projects whether it be a script or a video, etc.  and share and discuss it with the group.  I would like to remind everyone that their is a public forum available here on the site.  You are free to post suggestions, comments or even work for hire and help wanted listings.  Our goal is to maximize the potential for networking.  As always, we hope to see you at the next meeting on August 8.  Until then, enjoy the summer!

May 3, 2002 -- On Monday, May 13th, group founding members Glen Baisley and Maryann Arrien along with actors and members, Joe Lauria, Gene Mazza and Richard Redmond will be live on Good Morning Hudson Valley on WBNR (1260 AM)/WLNA (1420 AM) from 9 to 9:30 AM.  They will be discussing the Mid-Hudson Film and Artist Group as well as their upcoming projects.  A very special thanks goes out to Rich for making this possible.  His dedication in promoting the group has generated successful attendance at our meetings.

February 15, 2002 -- Please note that there was a problem with the email link from the Mid-Hudson site but it has been fixed.  Recently, I have had a few people contact me about offering paid classes for actors, film makers and writers.  Mary Crescenzo approached me about a class that instructs actors as to how to prepare for an audition and how to tell if the people casting are legitimate.  If we can get enough people interested, perhaps we could hold the class at the VFW.  Staton Rabin also contacted me about a screenwriting class she is teaching at the Hudson Valley Writer's Center.  The four class course begins on February 21.  Additional information can be found on www.writerscenter.org.  Finally, Executive Director, Libby Turnock, of the Garrison Center for the Arts contacted me regarding a summer film program offered to adults and children.  They are currently looking for guest teachers.  Please call (845) 424-3960 for further information.
